Information Updates

  • The Operator shall update the Auditor, within seven (7) days of a change in status, all information associated with the registration, including any changes in the contact information for the operator, the responsible local person, and the rental management company.

Compliance with City Ordinances

  • The Operator shall maintain the short-term rental in accordance with the City of Port Clinton Codified Ordinances and all of the provisions of this chapter.

Tax and Utility Compliance

  • The Operator shall remain current on all existing income tax filing; transient occupancy tax filing; income tax, transient occupancy tax, and utility payment liabilities to the City. Any tax/utility bill that is not paid by the due date is considered delinquent.

Certificate Transfer

  • Short-Term Rental Operating Certificates are NOT transferable to a new owner upon sale of a property. The new owner shall apply for and receive a new certificate any time prior to commencing business in the City of Port Clinton.

Additional Tax Requirements

  • Property owners renting to transient guests are also subject to the Ottawa County Lodging Excise Tax, which is 3% on all rents paid or to be paid by the transient guest. Operators must register with the Ottawa County Auditor and obtain a “Transient Occupancy Registration Certificate” within thirty (30) days after commencing business.
